Add locations that are polygons, e.g., U.S. counties.
This would be useful for many of us with cultural heritage collections, since K-12 students often engage with state history by picking a county to study.

I'd love this feature for a collection of NYS geological theses. Some cover areas, not precise locations.

I agree with this as well. It would be very cool if you could use a MARC 260 field (publication info) to use for location data. If there were some kind of function allowing a mass Google maps search of this field to populate the location data with longitude and latitude I could see that being an extremely powerful tool

This is a good idea. I assume the ring coordinates would already be in the source data and it would just be a matter of typing a field as "point" or "polygon" rather than generic "location," right?
