Separate Temporal and Spatial Coverage
I would like to use the temporal coverage field to create a timeline of my collections and would also like to use the spatial coverage field to create a map. Since both of these are listed under the coverage field, I can only map the data to either text or a location so I am unable to cover both areas at the same time.

This is an issue with the structure of the data that comes in. My guess is that you pulled in a collection via OAI-PMH which pulled over the Dublin Core data. In this case, there are two different kinds of data in the coverage field (temporal and spatial) and you would like to break apart that field into two separate fields. It might be that there is a general need for the ability to break apart a field based on a rule to create two new fields that could then be used independently to power facets or displays.
